We, cruel girls

'It was like a dance of belonging with no private space in it, all inside-out intamacy, and I found it euphoric, intoxicating.'
Bad Blood’ by Lorna Sage

This series explores the theme of girlhood, where girls are caught between the carefree innocence of childhood and the onset of adolescence. It is a secretive, hierachical world in which these girls compete for acceptance from one another.
Having a best friend in this constantly shifting arena, is vital. As much as inclusion is desired, rejection and isolation are feared.

Commssion for Hey Ladies, to produce an image to e given to a writer for their interpretation, August 2003.
