THE STORY SO FAR
Daisy Fletcher Designs is the result of a lifelong love of drawing and 10 years working as a freelance illustrator. It began with a First Class Honours degree in illustration at the University of Brighton followed by a Masters Degree in Communication Art and Design at the Royal College of Art. In my second year at the RCA my drawing gained in confidence - this was the way I was meant to be working. My own slightly surreal world began to emerge - one of beautiful creatures, oversized flowers, insect birds, hints of human involvement, all overlaid with a touch of sensuality.
I've been fortunate to work with world class companies on some wonderful and challenging commissions. Clients include: Visa, Penguin Books, Graniph t shirts (Japan), Sony Records, China's largest bottled water company Nongfu Spring, Esquire and Christian Dior. If you'd like to see some of my past projects please take a look here.
Sometime ago I decided I wanted to setup my own business. I would produce high quality limited edition prints of my artwork and could envisage the designs printed on products for the home. At that time I never quite had the courage to go for it.
Then I became a Mum and absolutely everything changed. My world turned upside down in the most unpredictable, glorious, challenging, inspiring and strangely liberating way. It was a 'now or never' moment and my daughter became the motivation for setting up on my own.
However things are never predictable in the world of illustration. In 2014 I was approached by Laurence King Publishing and asked to produce a colouring book for adults on the theme of birds. They suggested I 'go wild' which is pretty much an illustrator's dream. It has been the most exciting, intense and rewarding piece of work I've ever completed.
'Birdtopia' was published in Spring 2016 and is available to order here.
